A 20% national Renewable Energy Standard would mean:
- $20 million each year to Kansas leaseholders;
- $19 million each year to Kansas counties;
- 1,800 permanent operations & maintenance jobs;
- 10,000+ manufacturing jobs;
- No air or water pollution;
- Better energy security and reduced dependence on foreign oil.
Critical votes on a Renewable Energy Standard begin soon! Senator Brownback could make the difference as a respected member of the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
A Renewable Energy Standard provides:
- A hedge against volatile fossil fuel prices on a global market – long-term cost savings,
- No air or water pollution – reduced healthcare costs,
- Over 400 billion gallons of water savings in the U.S. by 2030,
- Fuel for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles – reduced dependence on foreign oil.
Senator Brownback supports wind development. At a recent Pickens Plan event he called Kansas “the Saudi Arabia of Wind” and he has voted for a more modest standard in the past. Let him know that now is the time for Kansas to lead.
